This space has been neglected and I apologize. Over the course of two years – starting from the time I was able to attend an Emetrics in San Francisco, struggling for executive support, to setting up KPIs, experiencing a full Omniture implementation audit, running automated reports, absorbing in statistical concepts, then getting my hands dirty with testing, to the place where I am now – it has been one heck of a ride. I thought I can say that in those two years, I’ve experienced it all. But no. With Social Media in the picture, Product Management principles being established, and the never ending search for valuable and actionable insights through data mining and multichannel activities, yes, we are still evolving. All I can say is that I am excited more than ever to see Web Analytics in our organization, in my realm, in my circle of influence grow. And as I once again venture out to build Web Analytics Philippines, not just locally but internationally, I look forward to more learnings, lessons, and problems to solve for.

Hello world, this is us, resurrected

I don’t think I will be there this year (like many people I suppose, due to budget cuts and other pressing priorities like keeping conversion up) but this won’t stop me from craving for real time information on how the Emetrics is turning out. I know a lot of people will be live blogging and I’m sure to watch out for them. But of course, I still wish I was there…But this is new. I chanced upon this news that Quantivo will be hosting a TwitterFest for the Emetrics San Jose. Good thing Quantivo thought of this, I’ll sure be watching the real time feeds for all tweets associated to #emetrics. Since I’m not going, I might as well be *remotely* there. I will still get the feel of what everyone there is thinking, or saying.

So if you’re like me who is a thousand miles (or more) away from Emetrics San Jose, checkout Quantivo‘s TiwtterFest!

I was fortunate to go to San Francisco last year to participate in the E-metrics Summit. It was a life changing opportunity for me, coming from the Philippines and being in the middle of Web Analytics practitioners, experts, and vendors who I only get <del>stalk</del> follow on Twitter. The perfect term to describe me was “star-struck”. What happened in this one year that has passed? Web Analytics Philippines was born. I wanted to have a venue for all things Web Analytics that keeps me busy day in day out. I was working with good people, Analysts like me who have the passion for Web Analytics. But, we got busy. Until I got a wake up call.Another E-metrics is just around the corner. This year, it will be in San Jose, California. Unlike last year, I won’t be going. I will just read live blogging accounts, twitter updates, and just imagine myself there. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not sad. I’m reminiscing. I am glad that I am part of this dynamic industry.

Because I was present at Emetrics last year, I got out of the rut that Web Analytics is only quantitative. I’m surveying customers, I’m testing my buttons. So, yay! I also gained expertise, not just in implementing the codes, but in interpreting the data. Not just superficial interpretation – I moved beyond correlation. So after these I-need-to-experience-these-myself phase, I know I am ready to give my two cents more often. No longer just the market research girl, I am the Web Analytics girl. Yes, from the Philippines.

Mid April this year Yahoo! announced their latest tool to catch up with Google Analytics, which is Yahoo! IndexTools. After a couple of months waiting for this to be out in the market, Yahoo! finally released their very own web analytics tool Yahoo! Indextools. What makes it more exciting is that beside from launching the product, Yahoo! also declared a re-branding of the said tool, from its old name Yahoo! IndexTools, its new name will be Yahoo! Web Analytics – which I strongly believe that its new name is much better than the old one. The said tool includes a newly launched website, especially for Yahoo! Web Analytics. Is it free? That’s what we have to look forward too. For the meantime let’s take a look on the newest web analytics tool, they say it is like Omniture – see it yourself.
