One year from the Emetrics
Has it been almost a year already? I was fortunate to go to San Francisco last year to participate in the E-metrics Summit. It was a life changing opportunity for me, coming from the Philippines and being in the middle of Web Analytics practitioners, experts, and vendors who I only get
stalk follow on Twitter. The perfect term to describe me was “star-struck”. What happened in this one year that has passed? Web Analytics Philippines was born. I wanted to have a venue for all things Web Analytics that keeps me busy day in day out. I was working with good people, Analysts like me who have the passion for Web Analytics. But, we got busy. Until I got a wake up call.Another E-metrics is just around the corner. This year, it will be in San Jose, California. Unlike last year, I won’t be going. I will just read live blogging accounts, twitter updates, and just imagine myself there. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not sad. I’m reminiscing. I am glad that I am part of this dynamic industry.
Because I was present at Emetrics last year, I got out of the rut that Web Analytics is only quantitative. I’m surveying customers, I’m testing my buttons. So, yay! I also gained expertise, not just in implementing the codes, but in interpreting the data. Not just superficial interpretation – I moved beyond correlation. So after these I-need-to-experience-these-myself phase, I know I am ready to give my two cents more often. No longer just the market research girl, I am the Web Analytics girl. Yes, from the Philippines.
